It was enough to earn the 33-year-old a new three-year deal at the Stadium of Light - but not a call up for Roy Hodgson's tilt at the Euros in France.

Not that Defoe looked too worried.

The ex-Spurs star kicked back at Ocean Beach Ibiza taking selfies with fans and relaxing by the pool.

Defoe - who has 19 goals in his 55 caps -  had previously admitted his Euros snub was a huge disappointment.

He said: "Obviously I've not been involved with England for quite a while and I've always thought that getting into an England squad before a tournament is based on merit.

"I just feel like I've done everything that I could do.

"As a forward if you score goals then you've got a chance of going.

"So obviously, when you're not in the squad, it's a disappointment."

Judging by these pictures, he'll get over it just fine.
