Chelsea outcast Emerson admits ‘things are not going as I wish’ after failed transfer exit

CHELSEA outcast Emerson has admitted that "things are not going as I wish" after his failed transfer exit.

The full-back had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge throughout the summer but failed to find a way out.

He has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season and his route to the first team has been blocked by the signing of Ben Chilwell.

The 26-year-old, currently on international duty, has admitted his frustration as he faces at least the next few months on the sidelines.

He played 90 minutes in Italy's 0-0 Nations League draw with Poland under Roberto Mancini and expressed his displeasure after the game.

He said: "When I arrive here I change my head, I feel important and part of the group.

"At Chelsea, things are not going as I wish in this part of the season. I just have to work.

Emerson arrived in west London in the winter window of 2018 under Antonio Conte but has failed to have a convincing run in the team so far.

Conte reportedly wanted to bring him to Inter in the summer, but nothing came of the move.

The defender was also linked to AC Milan.

He appeared the third-choice left back at the club, with Marcos Alonso deputising for Chilwell during the Blues' chaotic 3-3 draw with West Brom.

But the Spaniard's reported clash with manager Frank Lampard after he was hauled off at half-time could have helped Emerson's first-team hopes.

He started the 6-0 third round Carabao Cup win against Barnsley and came off the bench in the shootout loss against Tottenham in the next round.

Chilwell scored the opening goal and impressed as Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 4-0 in their last game.
