Euro 2016: Ex-England striker Michael Owen fears Marcus Rashford has pipped Daniel Sturridge to be England’s Euro 2016 super sub
Former Man United and England forward fears injuries to current Kop man will boost Old Trafford teenager's chances
LIVERPOOL hero Michael Owen admits Daniel Sturridge may have been relegated behind Marcus Rashford in the England rankings.
Sturridge has already played for Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in his career and is one of the Kop’s top earners.
Teenage Rashford, by contrast, jumped from the Old Trafford under-18s to Louis van Gaal’s first team last season in a Cinderella story.
The pair are now at Euro 2016 with the Three Lions and are both fighting to get on the pitch for some minutes against Wales on Thursday night.
Shock corner king Harry Kane looks certain to start again with Jamie Vardy, Rashford and Sturridge hoping to be late impact subs.
But Owen, who crossed the M62 divide and played at Anfield and Old Trafford, admits Sturridge’s injury record might result in him being overlooked.

Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Owen said: “Unfortunately for Daniel he seems to have been pushed further down the queue at the moment.
“And it remains to be seen, if we need a goal, who Roy is going to turn to first, whether that be him or even Rashford.
“Sturridge has shown - certainly in the last period of the season - that he is fit, he is healthy, and he went on a sustained run.
“That goal he scored in the Europa League final against Sevilla was just sublime.
"The difficulty in that and the way he had the confidence to just curl it in with the outside of his left foot was brilliant.
“I like Daniel and think he is a real quality player, and I sincerely hope he has a decent part to play in this tournament.
“I'm sure Daniel will get some minutes. I hope he does because he is looking very fit and as strong as ever at the moment.”
