The striker, now 27, was sentenced to five years imprisonment after being convicted of rape in April 2012.
After serving two and a half years he was released but continued to appeal his innocence.
Evans' case was heard by the Court of Appeal in March, his appeal allowed and his conviction quashed.

His last game was for Sheffield United against Leyton Orient on April 14, 2012 in which he scored in a 3-1 win for the Blades at Bramall Lane.

Evans was jailed in 2012 for raping a 19-year-old woman but the Court of Appeal quashed his conviction in April.

Chesterfield chairman Dave Allen admitted it is not a decision the club came to lightly.

He told the club's official website: ''We are delighted to have secured the services of an outstanding footballer, who is now keen to get back to work and score goals.

''(Manager) Danny Wilson knows Ched very well, having previously managed him at Sheffield United. Chris Morgan, our first team coach, also speaks highly of him from their time together at Bramall Lane.

''Chesterfield Football Club have given a great deal of thought to this signing and following the court's decision, we are in no doubt that Ched Evans should be welcomed back into his profession as a professional footballer.''

The Spireites also announced they would not be making any further comment on the deal.
Evans had previously attempted several comebacks with different clubs.
The first was immediately after he was released from prison with former club Sheffield United - a petition was signed by 150,000 people urging the club not to do so, while Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill removed her name from a stand at Bramall Lane dedicated to her.

He then attempted to sign at Hartlepool but local MP Iain Wright described him as a "pariah".
His move to Edinburgh club Hibernians was blocked as sex offenders are not allowed to work abroad.
In January 2015 he was then close to signing with Oldham Athletic but a petition was again signed by tens of thousands to block the move, while then Labour leader Ed Miliband voiced his opposition to the move.
Finally, Grimsby town attempted to move for the striker in January 2015, but later decided the move was too high risk for the club.
Evans has scored 59 goals in 167 career games with Manchester City, Norwich City and Sheffield United.
He has one goal in 13 caps for Wales.
