Striker will call time on Sweden career to focus on prolonging his club role, perhaps at Jose Mourinho's Red Devils
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC will retire from international duty at the conclusion of Euro 2016.
The Sweden striker, 34, has played in both of his side's games at this summer's European Championships in France - a 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland and a 1-0 loss at the hands of Italy.
Zlatan - who has accumulated 115 caps, netting 62 times for his country - now knows he may only play in one more game for Sweden, as the nation faces group stage elimination.
The former Paris Saint-Germain forward confirmed the news, saying: "I won't participate in the Olympics.
"My last game will be in this Euros."
Ibrahimovic may now be on his way to Manchester United to join Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, for his first spell in the Premier League.
And with the Olympic Games in Rio now also out of the equation, should Ibra sign for United, he would be free to go on the club's summer tour of China.
But for now, he retires an international legend, having netted more goals for Sweden than any other player in international football.
