GERARD PIQUE is at the centre of controversy after appearing to stick his middle finger up to the TV cameras before Spain's Euro 2016 clash with Croatia.

The footage panned down the line of the Spanish team before settling on Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea for a long period of time.

And then viewers were left stunned as Pique, who had his arm around the shoulder of his teammate, appeared to uncurl his finger so the cameras could see.

It is unclear whether the Barca star made a deliberate attempt to gesture to anybody, but the footage does not look good.

Things didn't go too well for the defender on the pitch as Spain threw away an early lead to end up finishing second in Group D.

That means Vincent Del Bosque's side now face a tough last 16 clash with Italy, who have impressed in winning Group E with a game to spare.
