They pipped  rivals England to top  Group B and now meet the team managed by Michael O’Neill,  who  finished third in Group C.

But  boss Coleman said: “We have to keep our feet firmly on the ground.

“In football, one minute everything’s great, the next you take your eye off the ball and everything has fallen down. There has been no talk in my camp about who could be next after the last 16.  I wouldn’t allow that.”

O’Neill’s men finished behind Germany and  Poland in their group, but secured their place in the last 16 thanks to a fantastic 2-0 win over Ukraine.

Wales and Northern Ireland drew 1-1 in a Cardiff friendly in March.

The Irish boss said: “It is going to be a fantastic game.

“We will be heading back to the Parc des Princes which, as we know from Tuesday night, is a brilliant stadium.

“We will benefit from the familiarity of having been there already, of having done the journey and of having played on the pitch.

“The other results  put us in what is arguably the more favourable side of the draw, so we are pleased about that.

“We are in no doubt that it is going to be a tough game against Wales.

“But we will go into the match believing that we can win and that we can progress.”
