PEP GUARDIOLA put a call into Raheem Sterling to help him through his Euros nightmare.
Manchester City’s incoming manager phoned the England flop after criticism of his performances from many angry Three Lions supporters.
Sterling’s spirits have been lifted by the surprise call ahead of England’s second- round clash with Iceland on Monday.
A source close to Guardiola said: “Pep knows he’s having a tough time.
“He called Raheem to say, ‘As long as you work for me I will fight for you. Keep your head up, you are a good player and a big part of my plans’.”
