Rojo, 30, spent the second half of last season on loan with boyhood club Estudiantes.

He has yet to feature for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side this campaign and is happy to leave in search of regular football.

Rojo has agreed personal terms with Boca Juniors but the fee remains a stumbling block.

The Argentine giants are hoping to sign him for nothing as he approaches the final six months of his contract.

United do have the option of extending his £100,000-a-week contract by a further year.

The summer arrival of Alex Telles pushed Rojo further down the pecking order and SunSport previously revealed he attracted interest from Sheffield United and Newcastle.

But a move to Boca would reunite him with former international team-mate and ex-United striker Carlos Tevez.

He has made over 120 appearances for United since his £16million arrival from Sporting Lisbon back in 2014.

Rojo has lifted the FA Cup, EFL Cup and the Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.
