Arsenal ‘agree’ to terminate Ozil’s £350k-a-week deal with star set to travel to Turkey to complete Fenerbahce transfer

ARSENAL are reportedly set to terminate Mesut Ozil's contract ahead of his move to Fenerbahce.

The midfielder - who earns £350,000-per-week - has been frozen out of Mikel Arteta's squad this season.

, Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle to end Ozil's deal early.

The playmaker, 32, was set to earn around £7million between now and the end of his contract in June.

But he is expected to fly to Turkey this weekend to finalise his switch to Fenerbahce as a free agent.

Fenerbahce sporting director Emre Belozoglu claimed this week that a deal for Ozil was 'closer than ever'.

SunSport exclusively revealed that Ozil is prepared to leave Arsenal this month.

He has played for the North London club since he joined from Real Madrid in 2013.

In the Premier League, he has chipped in with 33 goals and made 54 assists in 184 games.

But the German star has not made a single first-team appearance this season.

Ozil has admitted his love for Fenerbahce and has even compared them to Real Madrid.

He said: "I grew up as a Fenerbahce fan as a kid in Germany - every German-Turkish person supports a Turkish team when they grow up in Germany.

"And mine was Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce is like Real Madrid in Spain. The biggest club in the country."
