Roy Hodgson lost respect of his England players, claims FA’s head of elite development Dan Ashworth

DAN ASHWORTH claimed Roy Hodgson lost the respect of England’s players at Euro 2016.
The FA’s head of elite development told demoralised staff in an amazing debrief at St George’s Park the national side is at “rock bottom” and to put on “tin hats”.
He pinned the blame for England’s horrific exit against Iceland on departed Hodgson’s tactics and team selections.
Ashworth, on a three-man FA team to find a new boss, will shortly meet Sir Alex Ferguson — who has backed Sunderland’s Sam Allardyce for the post.

FA to shrink Steve's role
ENGLAND are set to axe shrink Steve Peters after their Euro 2016 disaster.
But FA bosses want to bring in a whole TEAM of sports psychologists to help instead.
Peters had worked for Roy Hodgson since the 2014 World Cup but the FA are now looking at different options.
The sports psychiatrist, who had been used by the British Olympic team and Liverpool, was popular among players such as Wayne Rooney, Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana.
Peters held sessions with most of the squad at their Chantilly hotel but is unlikely to be used during the World Cup qualifiers.
The stuffed lion, which was carried around by England’s worst trainer, was one of Peters’ ideas.
There were three lions used and following the team’s return to England, one was left at their hotel with its backside and back legs cut off.
The FA could turn to a company called Lane4 which has worked with the England Under-21s and other age groups.
Set up by former Olympic swimming champ Adrian Moorhouse, the company uses psychologists rather than medical psychiatrists such as Peters.
