Glenn Hoddle for England manager: Former boss is ready to open talks over shock return to Three Lions job
Former Tottenham star admits he is prepared to consider any position the FA offer him after Roy Hodgson's Euro collapse
GLENN HODDLE is ready to open talks over a shock England comeback.
The 58-year-old, sacked as Three Lions boss 17 years ago, is in the frame for a caretaker role while the FA seek Roy Hodgson’s long-term successor.
Ex-Spurs star Hoddle said: “I’m flattered people in football are saying that perhaps I should have another go at it.
“I’ve not had contact from the FA but if they did come then I would talk to them about whatever role they want.”
“The bottom line is; if they come and want to talk, I’ll talk. They might just want some feedback, they might have their guy already.
“They are doing the right thing by taking their time. It is a big call for them and for the country.”
Hoddle took England to the last eight of the 1998 World Cup but was axed seven months later after his controversial comments about disabled people.
He last managed at Wolves over ten years ago.
Obvious contenders for the job – such as Arsene Wenger or Brendan Rodgers – are currently locked in contracts and it may take a year to get the right man.
