Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea: £33m striker posts message to Marseille fans as he closes in on Blues switch
The 22-year-old Belgian hitman, who is at Euro 2016, is set to join new Blues boss Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge
MICHY BATSHUAYI hinted he was closer to his £33million Chelsea switch by posting a farewell to Marseille fans.
The Belgium hitman, 22, is set to join new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Crystal Palace and West Ham had hoped to lure Batshuayi to London, with Palace seeing a £31.8m bid accepted.
But he will wear the blue of Chelsea, who hope he can follow in the footsteps of ex-Marseille star Didier Drogba.
Batshuayi confirmed on his Instagram account that the deal was set to be confirmed on Sunday.
He wrote: “I particularly want to thank all Marseille supporters.
“During these two years at the club that I loved since childhood you showed me all your love and support.
“It is a great honor for me to have worn this jersey at the Velodrome.
“I hope to continue to make you proud at my new club and I will continue to follow Marseille’s results closely.”
Batshuayi scored 17 goals and contributed nine assists in 36 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille last season.
