The German is already contracted to 2018 and earns £7m annually

Yet principal owner John W Henry has seen enough to convince him Klopp is the man they want to build a new dynasty.

And now Henry and Fenway Sports Group have made approaches to the German over committing his long-term future to Merseyside.

Talks are still at such a formative stage that the Kop’s American bosses haven’t even discussed the exact length of any new deal.

Yet it will be for far longer than the extra 12 months option in last year’s initial contract.

Negotiations will also focus on how long the fresh agreement runs, rather than a massive pay hike.

FSG have made no secret of their desire for longevity on the management side, in their determination for stability.

Yet Henry has also openly admitted he sees Klopp, Liverpool and their American owners as the perfect fit – and wants to keep it that way for as long as possible.

Despite results being inconsistent last season, they have been blown away by Klopp’s charisma and commitment.

They are also aware that tying him down now would avoid any debate about in the future, should other big jobs become available.

Klopp has had no problem working within their model of buying young, with a future sell-on value, or not having a limitless transfer kitty.

The owners have also been impressed by the spirit he has developed within the squad in a relatively short period.
