Arda Turan to Arsenal: Barcelona ready to sell midfielder for cut-price £23million as Arsene Wenger eyes bargain deal
Turkey captain moved to Nou Camp in £35m deal last summer but Barca bosses are reportedly looking to cut their losses
ARSENAL target Arda Turan is available for as little at £23million as Barcelona look to cut their losses on the midfielder.
The Turkey captain moved to the Nou Camp from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid in a £35m deal last summer.
Barca’s transfer embargo meant he was not able to play until January.
And the winger failed to break into Luis Enrique’s side as they went on to claim the La Liga crown on the final day of the season.
Turan started just 13 games in all competitions, contributing three goals and four assists.
But he was left out of all crucial Champions League clashes and only featured once in the title run-in.
Turan, 29, is desperate to stay in Catalonia and prove he is no Nou Camp flop.
But the signing of Villarreal schemer Denis Suarez could further diminish his opportunities.
Arsene Wenger’s Gunners are ready to swoop for the star, who excelled as Atletico won the title in 2014.
Barca are willing to listen to offers and, , they will even take a £12m hit to get Turan off their wage bill.
Arsenal face competition from German giants Borussia Dortmund and Turkish side Fenerbahce to land their man.
Wenger has already splashed £30m on Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka and brought in 21-year-old Japanese striker Takuma Asano.
Turan made 178 appearances in four years at Atleti, scoring 22 goals.
