Brighton mulling over Mbaye Diagne transfer after impressing at struggling West Brom on loan from Galatasaray
BRIGHTON are mulling over a move for West Brom loan star Mbaye Diagne.
Senegal striker Diagne, 29, has impressed at the Hawthorns since arriving temporarily from Galatasaray in January, hitting three Premier League goals.
The Baggies are set for the drop but Diagne is keen to stay in England’s top flight next term.
Brighton have prioritised signing a new frontman this summer, with Neal Maupay their top-scorer this term on just eight goals.
But before any move for Diagne, Seagulls boss Graham Potter would have to be convinced the 11-cap ace could fit into his possession-based style.
Meanwhile, Baggies chief Sam Allardyce wants to remain at the Hawthorns - even if he fails to achieve the miracle of avoiding relegation from the top-flight for the first time in his 30 years of management.
Allardyce said: “Do I stay? That is not a discussion we can have until our final fate is decided.
“Hopefully I am staying. I am absolutely, certainly staying, if we can pull off this miracle and stay in the Premier League.”
“I will see it out to the very end, no matter what.
“The only way to get me out of here is to sack me. It would be a sad end if it comes to that - I just want us to get to the last game and still have a chance."
Allardyce only landed Diagne on transfer deadline after the former Juventus player had a medical in Instabul and took Covid tests.
Diagne's agent insisted his man had been enjoying life with the Turkish giants.
But the lure of one of Europe's top leagues was too big.

Fatih Ilek said of his client at the time: "He’s actually happy in Galatasaray but Diagne is going to England.
"There is a mandatory purchase option because Diagne does not fit into Fatih Terim’s system."
Terim's Galatasaray are third in the Super Lig with three games to play, six points adrift of leaders Besiktas.
