Marko Arnautovic could head to Everton in £13million switch after failing to agree a new contract at Stoke

MARKO ARNAUTOVIC is set to leave Stoke for Everton - if the Toffees meet his £13million release clause.

The Austrian international has been holding out for £80,000 a week with the Potters and has run his contract down into its last year.

Ronald Koeman has yet to make significant signings so far at Goodison Park, with Steven Pienaar released this summer and space in the squad for a new winger.

Everton have signed keepers Maarten Stekelenburg and Chris Renshaw as well as unproven teenage striker Bassala Sambou from Coventry.

But Koeman is desperate to make marquee signings on Merseyside - with chairman Bill Kenwright happy to wave the chequebook.

According to the though, the Toffees are not keen on Arnautovic's salary demands, meaning the 27-year-old facing a decision over whether to accept lower terms at either club or move abroad.

With 19 goals in 94 starts for the Potters, the former Werder Bremen star is one of the Premier League's most feared wingers.

He was also part of Austria's doomed Euro 2016 campaign as they finished rock bottom of Group F behind Hungary and Portugal - but it was Iceland that dumped them out with a last-minute winner.

Much also depends on the Potters' chase for West Brom's long-term wantaway forward Saido Berahino.

The Baggies have already rejected a £20m from Stoke, who are going head-to-head with Crystal Palace for the Englishman.

Koeman also faces a battle to keep hold of Romelu Lukaku and John Stones - while Bruno Martins Indi and Axel Witsel have been mooted as targets.
