Zinedine Zidane hands son Real Madrid debut as fans see glimpses of his old man in action
Like father, like son as Enzo aims to carve out his own successful career with Spanish giants
ZINEDINE ZIDANE handed his son, Enzo, a Real Madrid debut in their 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Coming on to replace winger Lucas Vazquez in the second half, the 21-year-old showed a likeness to his old man as Enzo looked calm in possession despite a loss on Wednesday night.
The midfielder featured regularly for Madrid’s Castilla side last season and was made captain by Zidane before the Frenchman was promoted to manager of the first team.
Hopes are obviously high for the Zidane family with all four sons on their books.
The brightest talent is thought to be 18-year-old goalkeeper Luca who has also travelled with the first team on their pre-season tour of America.
Speaking after the clash against PSG, Zidane said he is keen to hand further first-team opportunities to his young starlets.
“Whenever we need to, we’ll take players from the academy.
“They’re here with us, are focused and are good players. When they get their chance they will take it.”
They will be hoping to follow in their father’s footsteps as Zidane went onto win a host of major tournaments as well as being regarded as one of the greatest midfielders to grace the game.
