OH MARTIN!

Watch Newcastle No1 Martin Dubravka punch ball into his own net to gift Spain lead with SEVENTH own-goal of Euro 2020

MARTIN DUBRAVKA conceded the most bizarre own-goal of Euro 2020 to hand Spain the lead in their 5-0 win over Slovakia.

The Newcastle keeper went from hero to villain for his country after he had expertly saved an earlier penalty from Alvaro Morata.

Dubravka somehow managed to make a complete hash of Pablo Sarabia's shot that looked to be a simple save after it struck the bar.

Yet as the ball bounces down on the goal-line, the 32-year-old attempts to tip it behind for a corner but instead he punches it into his own net.

And fans couldn't help but see the funny side on social media as Dubravka held his head in his hands.

One tweeted: "This is one of the funniest own goals you'll ever see!"

Another commented: "How can you save a pen and then do this 10 minutes later?"

A third added: "He must have got Spain in the sweepstake."

Other supporters were more generous and suggested Dubravka lost sight of the ball in the sun as he jumped to clear it.

But his own-goal has become the SEVENTH of this summer's tournament already - as many scored at Euro 2000, '04 , '08 , '12, and 2016 combined.

The first strike of the competition was from Turkey defender Merih Demiral turning into his own net in a 3-0 defeat to Italy.

Mats Hummels scored at the wrong end against France while Portugal conceded two own-goals in their 4-2 loss to Germany.

Dubravka meanwhile had his misery compounded by Spain after Aymeric Laporte netted to put Slovakia two down at the break.

Pablo Sarabia and Ferran Torres both got themselves on the scoresheet as well before another own-goal from Juraj Kucka compounded a 5-0 win.
