Paulo Dybala will follow Alessandro Del Piero and Roberto Baggio as he inherits Paul Pogba’s No10 shirt at Juventus
PAULO DYBALA inherited the most important shirt at Juventus a year after Paul Pogba relinquished it by moving to Manchester United.
The hallowed ‘No10’ shirt has passed through generations of legends before reaching the talented Argentine’s back.
Pogba wore the shirt for 12 impressive months before joining United in a world record £89million deal.
Dybala looked set to inherit the jersey last season, but it remained vacated for a year.
However, it now has a new owner.
The 23-year-old is considered one of the brightest prospects in the game and was a target for United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Three wearers have claimed the Ballon d’Or — with one winning it three times in a row.
SunSport picks out five legends to have worn that No10 for the Bianconeri.
Omar Sivori — 1957 to 1965
Argentine was John Charles’ strike partner in Turin.
He moved to Juventus in 1957 and revolutionised a club which had been going through somewhat of a slump.
Sivori took up Italian nationality and was named European Footballer of the Year in 1961.
He won three Serie A titles and two Italian Cups.
He is Juventus’ fifth all-time to goal scorer and once scored six goals in a 9-1 thrashing of Inter Milan in 1961.
Sivori also scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid, as the Old Lady became the first Italian team to win at the Bernabeu in 1962.
Michel Platini — 1982 to 1987
Before becoming a disgraced Uefa president, Platini was pretty decent footballer.
In fact, there was only Diego Maradona at the time between himself and a place as the world’s No1 footballer.
He moved to Juve from St Etienne following an impressive display at the World Cup for France.
Platini became the catalyst of of the club’s most successful period ever, as he led the Bianconeri to the Italian title twice, a Coppa Italia, a Cup Winners’ Cup, a Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup and a first-ever European Cup.
He was Serie A top goal scorer for three consecutive seasons, and only the first player to win the Ballon d’Or three years in a row until a certain Lionel Messi achieved the feat in 2011.
Roberto Baggio — 1990 to 1995
Italian idol caused uproar in Florence when left Fiorentina for Juventus for a world-record £8million deal.
Baggio was regarded as one of the best players in the world at the time, and won the 1993 Ballon d’Or.
He became the lynchpin and the team was built around him.
In fact, new boss, Marcello Lippi, decided Juventus had become too reliant on Baggio and for that season sold him to AC Milan in 1996.
He won a league and cup double in his final season in Turin and a Uefa Cup in 1993.
Baggio once scored four goals in the opening 20 minutes of a 5-1 win over Ancona, with team-mate David Platt, admitting: “I don't think I've seen a better performance from any player in any game I've ever played in.”
