ARSENAL have completed a deal to sign talented Nigerian teenager Kelechi Nwakali.

Although it is not the marquee player Gunners supporters were hoping for, the midfielder comes very highly-rated and manager Arsene Wenger will be delighted with the addition.

Wenger had to fight off competition from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea for his signature after first impressing at the Under-17 World Cup.

And they may have former player Nwankwo Kanu to thank with the old Arsenal favourite representing the player as his agent.

The player, who signed a five-year deal at the Emirates, took to Twitter to announce that he had signed claiming that "hard work starts now."

Arsenal will be hoping the 18-year-old is worth the wait having tried to sign Nwakali last January after impressing on trial.

Arsenal will be hoping that the addition is a sign of things to come with Wenger prepared to splash the cash to secure two major signings.

The Gunners chief is growing increasingly concerned that his side are being left behind in the transfer window.

Striker Alexandre Lacazette and Shkodran Mustafi remain key targets but the lack of defenders remains a worry.
