Spurs star Alderweireld wears Qatar club Al-Duhail scarf and holds flowers in Doha airport ahead of £13million transfer
TOBY ALDERWEIRELD has landed in Doha ahead of his £13million move to Al-Duhail from Tottenham.
Alderweireld was pictured in Qatar holding a bouquet of flowers and wearing a scarf of his new club around his neck last night.
The defender is set for a new challenge in the Middle East following six impressive years at the heart of Spurs' defence.
The Belgium international joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in 2015 for a fee close to £11.4m.
Chairman Daniel Levy was convinced to sign the star centre-back following an impressive loan stint at Southampton.
The 32-year-old scored nine goals and made five in 236 appearances across all competitions at Tottenham.
Alderweireld came close to leaving the club last year but was convinced to sign a new deal once former manager Jose Mourinho took over.
But Mourinho's departure and the subsequent arrival of new boss Nuno Espirito Santo turned things around at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Belgian has been deemed surplus to requirements and thus decided to join Al-Duhail.
Alderweireld is set to undergo a medical and will then link up with fellow Belgian Edmilson.

The former Ajax star will also play under ex-Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi.
Tottenham boss Nuno is now looking to rebuild the club's backline with Atalanta ace Cristian Romero, who is subject to a £42m offer, posing as his top target.
Spurs have also seen an opening bid of around £13m turned down by Bologna for Takehiro Tomiyasu.
