Tottenham CONFIRM Toby Alderweireld’s £13m transfer to Qatari club Al-Duhail SC as defender posts emotional goodbye
TOTTENHAM have announced the departure of centre-back Toby Alderweireld.
The 32-year-old will leave Spurs after spending six years at the club and join Al-Duhail SC in Qatar.
The fee is believed to be in the region of £13million.
Alderweireld joined Spurs in July 2015 and formed a formidable partnership with fellow countryman Jan Vertonghen.
The pair helped propel Spurs into the Champions League.
And the Belgian duo helped set Spurs’ best defensive record of conceding just 26 goals in a Premier League season, as well as a second-placed finish in 2016/17.
Alderweireld also featured for Spurs in their first-ever Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid, but was unfortunately on the losing end.
The centre-back – who made 236 appearances in total for the north London club – posted an emotional message on .
He said: “Six years, two homes, a Champions League final and so many memories.
