Lyon complete £9.5m signing of Liverpool outcast Xherdan Shaqiri as midfielder Ben Woodburn joins Hearts on loan
XHERDAN SHAQIRI has ended his Liverpool stay and joined Lyon in a £9.5million move on a three-year deal.
It was revealed on Sunday how the Ligue 1 outfit were in talks to sign the 29-year-old, who was deemed as surplus to requirement at Anfield.
Shaqiri hasn't featured in any of the Reds' opening two Premier League fixtures after falling down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
The Swiss forward has featured in just 63 games for the Merseyside outfit since joining from Stoke in 2018, with the player never establishing himself as a starter.
And Lyon have now , with sporting director Juninho waxing lyrical over the forward.
He said: "We have been speaking with him for a long time. We needed this sort of player.
"He will also bring us a lot in the locker room. Since our first contacts with him, he has shown the desire to come to us.
"He made the effort. We are very happy. We hope he will be in the squad as soon as possible.

"He is a competitor, we saw that during the Euros. He will bring a lot to the table."
Shaqiri, who won the Premier League and Champions League during his time at Liverpool, isn't the only player to have departed the club on Monday.
Welsh midfielder Ben Woodburn, 21, has joined Scottish side Hearts on a season-long loan deal in his bid to play regular first-team football.
Commenting , Liverpool's youngest-ever goalscorer stated: "I’m delighted to be here and get the deal done.
"It’s been a couple of weeks now that I’ve known Hearts were interested and now I’m here I just can't wait to get started."
Before adding: “It just looks like a massive club. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans and see the atmosphere.
"I’m buzzing to be here and hopefully I can prove to them (the fans) that I can be a great player for you."
