NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO says Harry Kane’s decision to stay at Tottenham is great news for all connected with the club.
And the Spurs boss believes the England captain will need no extra motivation to play for the North Londoners - despite having his dream of joining Manchester City this summer dashed.
Kane, who had told Tottenham he wanted to leave them for the Etihad despite still having three years left on his contract, announced in a tweet this lunchtime that he will now be staying at Spurs this summer.
Nuno, speaking ahead of their Europa Conference League Play-Off second leg at home to Portuguese minnows Paços de Ferreira, said: “It’s great news, great news. Fantastic news for everybody.
“We are all very happy. One of the best players in the world. We are all delighted to have more options for the season ahead of us.”
Kane, who was desperate to join Premier League champs City in a bid to win honours, made his first appearance of the season as a 72nd-minute sub in Tottenham’s 1-0 win at Wolves on Sunday.
He then announced he would be staying at Spurs in a tweet just after noon.
It read: “It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks.

“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success.”
It is an incredible U-turn by the star, who arrived back late to pre-season training from his extended summer break in Florida and the Bahamas in a bid to engineer his exit from the Lane.
The wording of his tweet suggests Kane could try to leave again at the end of the season, or even in January.
But Nuno insisted: “I am not worried at all. It’s day by day, he’s an option for tomorrow. It’s the only thing, my only thought.”
And the Portuguese does not expect any problems with Kane this season.
He said: “I think since Harry rejoined us he has been working so this is what we value. His attitude in training has been great.
“So it’s finished, he is going to be with us. He is an option for tomorrow. Fantastic news for everybody.”
It will be seen as a massive victory for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy who was always adamant he was never going to sell his star player for less than £160million.
Nuno added: “All the persons involved were important. Everybody. It is good that this issue is over and we can proceed as normal.”
Asked if Kane will have trouble getting himself up for matches after this saga, Nuno said: “I think it’s up to us and everybody, and the player himself, to get his motivation.
“There should not be any kind of doubts in terms of motivation to play for Spurs.
“It's an amazing club, we have a good team, we are in a process and we need everybody involved.”
However, £65m club record buy Tanguy Ndombele will not be involved against Paços de Ferreira as Spurs try to overturn a 1-0 first-leg loss.
The midfielder has not been named in the squad amid speculation he has asked to leave the club.
Nuno said: “I am not going to answer that.
“For this game he is not on the Uefa list so is not available for tomorrow. Nothing has changed.”
