REAL MADRID are reportedly preparing to wait until January before launching another move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.

Speculation was mounting yesterday that the Spanish side were hoping to announce the signing of the striker today.

Spanish outlet claimed that the French giants would sanction a £154million deal after days of tense negotiations between the sides.

Now says a ‘deal is not close’ after the latest negotiations.

And now the potential switch for the Frenchman could be pushed back until the winter transfer window, when the Galacticos will be free to open discussions with the star as he enters the final six months of his contract.

He tweeted: “Development in Real Madrid’s attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG. After positive talks yesterday a deal is not close yet.

“According to our sources in France, Real Madrid are beginning to get feeling it might be better to wait until January because PSG are not being practical.”

The 22-year-old has continued to train with PSG amid the saga, in which his club accused Madrid of an 'illegal approach'.

The Parisians have been desperate to keep hold of Mbappe despite the blockbuster signing of Lionel Messi this summer.

But Mbappe has rejected multiple contract offers before telling the club he wants out.

That has left PSG facing the dilemma of whether to sell now, or risk losing their prized asset for free next year when his deal expires.

Los Blancos had a bid of £137m rejected by PSG on Wednesday, with sporting director Leonardo stating the offer was 'very far' from the club's valuation of the forward.

Real then improved their offer - but the sum is still short of the £162m PSG paid for Mbappe in 2017.

The French giants still owe Monaco around £35m from the original transfer.

PSG have only paid Monaco £124m so far, with the rest owed when Mbappe is sold or when he renews his contract at the club.
