CAN YOU SIII ME?

Watch Jesse Lingard’s combine ‘J-Lingz’ celebration with Cristiano Ronaldo’s as ‘welcoming gift’ for new Man Utd signing

JESSE LINGARD delivered a Cristiano Ronaldo-style goal celebration at Wembley.

Yet it is Manchester United’s returning Portuguese international who could still stuff Lingard in terms of England.

Lingard, 28, combined Ronaldo's famous celebration with his 'J-Lingz' trademark after scoring against Andorra on Sunday evening.

The United winger gave England the lead at Wembley in the 18th minute with a neat left-footed finish into the bottom corner.

The smiling Man Utd regular then performed Ronaldo's trademark 'Siiiiu' while making his 'J-Lingz' sign with his hands.

Lingard told beIN Sports after the game: "Yeah, no I mean me and Mason [Mount] were thinking of celebrations this week and obviously we mixed my celebration with Cristiano’s I said I’d do it.

"It’s a little welcoming gift [for Ronaldo] but yeah he’ll settle in quickly he’ll help this team brilliantly."

Albeit against poor opposition, Lingard played well and even added a second strike in the 4-0 win.

But the fact he has ended up staying at United could hurt his England chances as the World Cup in Qatar gets ever nearer.

The England ace didn't play a Premier League game for Man Utd last season and spent the second half of the term on loan at West Ham.

He performed brilliantly for the Hammers during his spell in East London, scoring nine goals in 16 Prem games under boss David Moyes, and made Southgate's provisional squad for Euro 2020.

But, following the arrivals of Ronaldo and his England colleague Jadon Sancho, it is impossible to see Lingard playing that regularly for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meaning Southgate will struggle to justify to pick the player.

Southgate named a 25-man squad for these three qualifiers but is likely to trim that number to 23 as England only have two games next month.

Also, with Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford due to return from injury, Lingard could - like Euro2020 - find himself crowded out of the squad.

Ronaldo started doing his 'Siiiiiii' celeb during his time at Real Madrid and recently revealed it was inspired after a game against Chelsea.

The Portugal captain said: "Well, I was in the US and we played against Chelsea and I don't know where it came from. I just scored and I went, 'sii!'

"But it was natural, to be honest.

"After that, I started doing it and I feel like the fans, when they see me they're like 'sii' and I was like, 'wow, people remember Cristiano because of the sii,' so I continued like that."

And Lingard began doing his famous celeb in 2018 ahead of the launch of his 'J-Lingz' fashion brand.

He pulled out the move after scoring for England against Panama at the World Cup in Russia three years ago.
