Bournemouth’s woes continue, as they have now lost all six of their Premier League games scheduled on Sundays
Eddie Howe's men have played half a dozen on the weekend's second day and lost them all after 3-1 Manchester United loss
MAKE no mistake, Bournemouth absolutely hate playing on a Sunday in the Premier League.
And if they don't, they really ought to, as another loss - this time at home to Manchester United - means they have now played six Sunday showdowns, and lost every, single one of them.
Eddie Howe's Cherries have performed admirably since their promotion to the English top flight at the beginning of the 2015-16 season, finished last term in 16th spot despite a spate of long-term injuries to key players.
Yet their Sunday form was abysmal, as they played five, lost five - including a 5-1 drubbing at home to title-chasing Tottenham.
Howe's men picked up where they left off in 2016-17 too, as their opening game - on a Sunday - went to form... a 3-1 defeat.
Last season, on top of their hammering at the hands of Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs, the Cherries also lost 2-0 away to Southampton and 2-0 at home to Arsenal.
Bournemouth then shipping another three in a 3-0 loss to Tottenham, again, before losing 2-1 at home to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.
This 3-1 loss on the Cherries' opening game of the season confirms one thing - Howe and Co must hate looking at the schedule and seeing those Sunday games on there.
Of course there's a fairly logical reason for the defeats...
Usually clubs competing in Europe - or games deemed 'big' enough for a TV slot - are pushed to Sunday, meaning Bournemouth are usually up against one of the top dogs.
After all, Southampton, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal are all top sides in the Premier League.
Regardless, Howe will want to buck the trend sooner rather than later, at least stealing a draw.
Well, they'll get a crack very soon... Next week in fact when Bournemouth travel to West Ham.
Howe then needs to wait until November for another Sunday showdown, taking on Arsenal at the Emirates.
And for now, barring any schedule changes, their only other Sunday game will be on the final game of the season - May 21 - when they face the champions Leicester.
The poor Cherries hardly have it any easier this season, eh?
