HAT-TRICK hero Sergio Aguero has warned Manchester City’s Premier League rivals he is only going to get better.
The Argentina striker hit three in the 5-0 Champions League win against Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday night.
But he missed two first-half spot-kicks - before he got on the scoresheet - after having a green laser shone into his eyes from a member of the crowd.
The 28-year-old is still brimming with confidence and has fired off a warning to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United that he is going to step it up another, even level after 50 league goals in his last two seasons.
Aguero said: “I had a laser in my eyes but that is not an excuse.
“I missed the penalties and I know I have to improve and I will try to improve.
“In the end I was happy to score so many goals, but the most important thing for me was that the team won.
“After I missed my first penalty, my head was spinning a bit but I thought ‘I have to carry on and try to score this one’ but I missed.
“ I had a change in my mind about how to take the second penalty and it didn’t go in.
“Have I ever missed two penalties in a game? No.
“But I still have plenty of confidence to keep taking the penalties.”
And summer signing Nolito said the rest of the City dressing room is happy for Aguero to retain penalty duty as the £13.8m man believes his team-mate is one of the greatest finishers on the planet.
He said: “It’s not a problem for him.
“We are happy how the match turned out and he scored three goals so let’s hope he carries on scoring like this.
“Kun is a great player, a great striker, one of the best strikers in the world and this is football.
“He has shown, despite missing two penalties, that he is a great striker and that he is not worried or affected by the misses at all.
“ It’s a privilege to have him in our team. We know how good he is.
“He is a killer, a great goal scorer. I think he is going to help us a lot this season.”
