Bayern Munich dealt injury blow with Kingsley Coman set for lengthy spell on sidelines
KINGSLEY COMAN has suffered a serious-looking ankle injury during Bayern Munich training.
The Bavarians are preparing to defend their German Cup title with a first round match against FC Carl Zeiss Jena on Friday.
However, they have been dealt a major blow with the news Coman is set for a prolonged period on the sidelines.
The 20-year-old was pictured being stretchered off during a training session, with worried team-mates looking on.
Bayern tweeted: “Kingsley Coman is set for a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury. More info to follow. Get well soon!”
Club captain Philipp Lahm revealed there is concern the Frenchman could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
He said: “It is never good when a player is lying on the ground, had pain and cannot stand up any more.
“I don’t know whether [Javi] Martinez collided with him or whether it happened on impact.
“But it doesn’t look good.”
The news will be a major blow to Carlo Ancelotti on the eve of his first season in German football.

They face FC Carl Zeiss Jena on Friday in the first round of the German Cup they won last season.
