WEST BROM will refuse to sell Jonny Evans to Arsenal.

The Gunners have been told that even a bid of £16million for the former Manchester United defender, 28, will not be enough.

The Baggies only paid an initial £6m for the Northern Irishman after he was dumped by Louis van Gaal last summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to get a deal done as Per Mertesacker (knee) is out for five months, Gabriel (ankle) for eight weeks and Laurent Koscielny is not match-fit.

Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi and Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjaer are also on Wenger’s radar.
