The Trust conducted a snap poll after the 2-1 defeat at Wolves left them winless and 19th in the table.

And a whopping 94.3 per cent of over 5000 respondents want Bruce to quit “in the best interests of Newcastle”.

Whereas 79.6 per cent of members were not confident of Prem survival during the summer, that figure has now leaped to 95.9 per cent.

Bruce has only won seven of his last 37 games and has faced chants of "we want Brucie out" throughout their seven games.

And the Trust said: “The board strongly encourage Newcastle United, and manager Steve Bruce to listen to fans.

“The discontent among our fan base is completely justified, and the concerns fans raise are clear for all to see.

“The environment the club have set up inevitably leads to further anger in the stands and results in a toxic atmosphere for the players tasked with securing our Premier League status.”

And they added: “These are alarming figures, which contradicts the clubs own belief that the squad and manager is good enough to compete and improve on last season.

“Fan optimism is at a serious low and with no wins in seven Premier League games at time of publication, Newcastle United is in serious danger of being relegated for a third time under the current owner.”
