MICHY BATSHUAYI bagged his first Chelsea goal as Diego Costa struck a late winner to put Watford to the sword.

Walter Mazzarri looked to be on course for a surprise win in his battle of the Italian bosses up against Blues chief Antonio Conte.

Etienne Capoue's strike appeared to have done the trick for the Hornets - bagging his second goal in two games this campaign having gone the whole of last season without one.
But £33million Belgium ace Batshuayi levelled on 80 minutes before Costa came to Conte's rescue three minutes from time to ensure the Blues have six points from six.

FACTS, STATS, GOALS AND LOLS

  • Watford fans were lifted before kick off with the introduction on the pitch of newbies Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra.
  • One of Chelsea’s problems last season was a leaky defence – yet the combined age of their back four was 120.
  • Both managers wore classy Italian suits but Conte had the fashion edge as he wore a tie.
  • Driving rain and a swirling wind made it feel more like November than the second week of the season.
  • Conte was first to feel the cold, donning a coat and cap – followed quickly by Mazzarri putting on a raincoat.
  • The floodlights came on after 25 minutes to lift the gloom, but appeared to fuse and went off instantly.
  • Only four fans took advantage of the free view from office windows overlooking the ground despite Chelsea being the visitors.
  • Etienne Capoue took more than a year to score his first Watford goal. Now he has two in two matches.
  • Antonio Conte had lost just one of his last 31 league games as a club manager before visiting Vicarage Road.
  • Super sub Michy Batshuayi rescued Chelsea with his first goal in English football - poking home seven minutes after replacing Oscar - before Diego Costa struck his second in two games.

SOCIAL SAYS

WHAT THEY SAID

ANTONIO CONTE: "I'm pleased for the right commitment, attitude of the players, the right spirit. It's a good family and a good team.

"I think the work always pays off. We are working very hard and will continue to work very hard. After a bad season like last year, it's not easy to start by winning lots of games and starting in a good way.

"We can still improve a lot, but we must continue to work like that."

WALTER MAZZARRI: "We can hold our heads high. We are all very proud of the way we played, the staff and the players. We played very well. When you play so well and don't manage to get any points, it leaves you unhappy. So, tonight, I'm not going to sleep very well."

"Like we say in Italy, we complicated our own life. Both goals were from our mistakes. We were not focused at either goal. We have to improve with the ball, keep it better and make use of it. We could have played in a more simple way."
