Only room for Ron

Brazilian Ronaldo omits Cristiano from his all-time best XI in favour of arch-nemesis Lionel Messi

CRISTIANO RONALDO has been sensationally snubbed by his Brazilian namesake in an all-time best XI.

Ronaldo, 39, instead opted to pick the Real Madrid's arch-nemesis Lionel Messi in the team of star-studded names.

Four Brazilians make the lineup, with Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Pele and himself all included.

Diego Maradona joins Messi as the only other Argentinian.

Known for their dogged defense, Gianluigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro, Paulo Maldini and Andrea Pirlo are the four Italians in the team sheet.

And former Madrid team-mate Zinedine Zidane is the solitary Frenchman to make the cut.

Ronaldo finished a stellar career after winning two World Cups and being crowned Fifa World Player of the Year three times.

He is widely regarded as one of the best strikers of all time and set the world alight at Barcelona, Inter, Real and AC Milan.

In January this year Brazil legend Pele went the opposite route and picked Ronaldo over Messi as his own preference.

Neymar also backed the former Manchester United star to win this year's Ballon d'Or ahead of Barca team-mate Messi.
