MANCHESTER UNITED are considering SACKING Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before this weekend's game against Tottenham, according to reports.

The under-fire Norwegian boss, 48, watched in horror as his side were ripped apart by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Solskjaer's side were 4-0 down at half-time against their fiercest rivals, before eventually losing 5-0 with Paul Pogba sent off for a studs-up lunge on Naby Keita.

And now, claim the club are considering axing Solskjaer.

The ex-Cardiff chief could be given the boot BEFORE Saturday's game against Tottenham, with Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane linked with taking over.

United have the week off having crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of West Ham last month.

That gives club bosses a six-day window between the Liverpool thumping and clash with equally beleaguered Spurs to make a decision.

Managing director Richard Arnold reportedly cancelled all of his Monday appointments to hold crunch talks with owners, the Glazers.

Solskjaer has now overseen five defeats in his last nine matches.

United are also without a win in four Premier League games with their title ambitions already crumbling.

The Red Devils have now slipped to seventh in the league, eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

And the 5-0 mauling against Jurgen Klopp's rampant Reds goes down in history as the club's worst EVER home defeat - with Sir Alex Ferguson looking pained as he watched on from the stands.

Man Utd players are believed to have Monday off to recover, with no midweek cup action for them.

And they will attempt to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to North London to take on Spurs.

Solskjaer was awarded a new three-year contract in the summer after guiding United to second in the league last term, behind only neighbours Manchester City.

At the time, a United statement claimed 'clear progress' had been made under the Norwegian.

But despite signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho in the summer, the club appear to have regressed.

United appear to have no real style or tactics and rely on moments of magic from their superstars.

But Solskjaer has faith in his own ability.

After the Liverpool humiliation, he said: "I do believe in myself, I do believe that I am getting close to what I want with the club.

"I think what we've done, what I've seen, the development, of course the results lately haven't been good enough, it's hands up and that brings doubt in anyone's mind probably.

"But I've got to keep strong and I do believe in what we've been doing, the coaching staff, the players.

"Today's rock bottom, low in confidence.
