Balotelli, 26, has been linked with numerous moves this summer but super agent Mino Raiola is struggling to find a party willing to take on the maverick striker.

Sassuolo, who have only spent three seasons in Serie A in their history, are the latest team to turn him down.

The Green and Black's chief executive Giovanni Carnevali revealed that the club was not interested.

He told Italian radio station RaiSpo: "Mina Raiola offered us Balotelli, but we refused."

Balotelli, once bought for £24m by Manchester City and £16m by Liverpool, has struggled for goals in the last two seasons.

After scoring just one Premier League goal, and four overall in 28 matches, in his lone season with the Reds, he scored only three in 23 matches on loan at AC Milan last season.

The main sticking point is Balotelli's wages, reported to be at around £110,000-a-week.

Liverpool are not keen to continue paying him, but Balotelli will not agree to a wage cut - he took around£60,000-a-week less when he first moved to the club.

Bologna and Udinese are still linked but Bologna want to take the striker on loan and to not pay his wages.

Udinese chief executive Nereo Bonato this week said: "Should Balotelli come to us?

"The important thing is to have the right motivation.

"Udinese is a particular squad, made up of a lot of young people."

Balotelli turned to Jose Mourinho for advice - with the Manchester United manager recommending a move out of the Premier League.
