But the winger wants to move back to Turin having spent last season on loan with the Italian champions.

Cuadrado impressed, scoring four and assisting five in 16 league starts and Juve's club director Giuseppe Marotta is confident of landing the speed merchant for another campaign.

, he said: "I hope that over the next few days we can conclude the Cuadrado deal.

"For now he is a Chelsea player. We presented a proposal to them and are waiting for a response. But we are optimistic."

Cuadrado arrived at Stamford Bridge for a fee of £23.3million in February last year but has made just four league starts and has yet to find himself on the score sheet.

When Conte was appointed, he made it clear that Cuadrado was part of his plans moving forward but it seems the player has done little to impress the Italian boss.

He said: "I wanted him when I was Juventus coach. He will come back very soon and train and play with us.

"Now he's a Chelsea player and he'll stay with us. If something changes you'll know."

The 28-year-old was left out of the match-day squad in Chelsea's opening wins over West Ham and Watford.
