TOTTENHAM's appointment of Antonio Conte means they have now given contracts running until 2023 to their last FOUR managers.

Conte was confirmed as their new boss on Tuesday and will take charge of his first game on Thursday against Vitesse.

Previous manager Nuno Espirito Santo lasted just ten league games despite signing a two-year deal when he arrived in the summer.

Daniel Levy likely planned for the Portuguese to provide stability after Jose Mourinho's turbulent reign.

But the Spurs chairman also had high hopes for Mourinho.

His expectations of success were understandable given Mourinho's track record, which is why he was given a four-year deal in 2019 - to take him up until 2023.

Upon his appointment, Levy said: "In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football.

“He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”

And prior to the 'Special One' Levy certainly felt he had an elite manager on his hands in Mauricio Pochettino.

The pair got on very well during the Argentine's five-year stint in North London.

And after delivering Spurs to two third-place finishes and one second-place, Pochettino was rewarded with a five-year deal at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Despite reaching the Champions League final a year after penning that contract, Pochettino was sacked a few months later, ending his reign trophyless.

Levy is aiming to end the barren spell without silverware and hopes serial winner Conte is finally the manager Tottenham have been looking for.
