AC Milan legends Andrea Pirlo, Massimo Oddo, Massimo Ambrosini, Gennaro Gattuso and Paolo Maldini meet for night out
Rossoneri quintet met up to provide depressing reminder of better times to suffering supporters of fallen Serie A giants
FIVE AC Milan legends enjoyed a nostalgic night out in the city.
Andrea Pirlo, Massimo Oddo, Massimo Ambrosini, Gennaro Gattuso and Paolo Maldini were re-united — to provide Rossoneri fans with a depressing reminder of better times.
The quintet all started the 2007 Champions League final, which was the last time Milan won the tournament.
Maldini, Gattuso and Pirlo also played in the victorious 2003 and disappointing 2005 finals during a golden era under Carlo Ancelotti.
However, they finished a lousy seventh last season — and haven’t even played in the Champions League since 2014.
New boss Vincenzo Montella is aiming for the top after the club was sold to Chinese investors for £628million, but has so far brought no one in.
They started the season off with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Torino.
The legendary five made a total of 2,340 appearances for the club — although Maldini contributed a staggering 902 of those.
Between them, they won 62 major trophies.
Again, the legendary No.3 claimed 26 of them — including five Champions Leagues/European Cups.
Pirlo is still playing in the MLS with New York City FC, while Gattuso is manager of newly-promoted Serie B side, Pisa.
Oddo is head coach at Pescara and led them to the promised land of Serie A last season.
