Chelsea confirm signing of Euro 2016-winning goalkeeper Eduardo from Dinamo Zagreb
Portuguese stopper will compete with Asmir Begovic for Stamford Bridge No.2 behind Thibaut Courtois
CHELSEA have confirmed the signing from goalkeeper, Eduardo, from Dinamo Zagreb.
The 33-year-old stopper was part of Portugal’s Euro 2016-winning squad and will compete with Asmir Begovic as Thibaut Courtois’ No.2.
Eduardo — full name Eduardo dos Reis Carvalho — admits he is delighted to have joined the Premier League giants.
He said: “Having the opportunity to come to the Premier League and to Chelsea, to such a big club, it is an easy decision to make.
“For me this is the best and the most difficult league and it is another level from where I have been until now.
“So it is a new challenge, at this moment I feel very good, so I am ready for this.
“All the colleagues I have always say the dream is to come to the Premier League, where there are the best clubs and the best players, and the opportunity to come here arrived at this moment.
“I am happy to be here and I hope I meet the expectations people have for me.”
Eduardo started his career at Braga and moved to Genoa after starting all four games for Portugal at the 2010 World Cup.
Following three loan moves, he eventually joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.
He has won 34 international caps.
