Everton rejected bids up to £30million from Chelsea last year but finally sold Stones to City this month for £47.5million
JOHN STONES admits missing out on playing for Jose Mourinho has proved a blessing in disguise under Pep Guardiola.
The Manchester City centre-back, 22, was distraught after his move to join ‘Special One’ Mourinho at Chelsea collapsed last year. But now he reckons he is now working for the best boss on the planet.
When asked if it was for the best that the move from Everton to Chelsea did not go through, Stones replied: “Yes.
“For me, Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world. I’m over the moon to be here and learning from him.
“He is an ultimate professional, very detailed. He wants us to be on the same page going into every game. He gets a lot of points across to us.”
