JOLEON LESCOTT has left Aston Villa to join Greek side AEK Athens on a two-year deal.
The 34-year-old defender was unveiled by the 11-time champions on Monday after leaving Villa Park on a free transfer following a disastrous season at the club.
AEK confirmed the deal on their website and posted several tweets welcoming the former England defender.
One showed a picture of the former Manchester City centre-back wearing his new kit and putting his thumb up for the fans.
The caption stated: "Joleon Lescott joins AEK FC for two years"
Several other posts about Lescott included him having his medical and another of him before his unveiling.
His move to AEK comes after a potential transfer to Glasgow Rangers broke down earlier this month after he failed to agree personal terms.
Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo said: "He passed the medical, he just didn’t agree on personal terms."
The Greek club's fans will be hoping Lescott has a better relationship with them than he did with the Villa supporters after tweeting a picture of his £120,000 Mercedes following the club's humiliating 6-0 home defeat to Liverpool in February.
He later claimed it was simply an accident and that his phone had tweeted the picture of the car while in his pocket.

Lescott - who is thought to have earnt around £50,000 a week at Villa - told The Times: "It must have accidentally gone off, I don’t know how, whether you believe it or not.
"It’s not the first time I’ve put my phone in my pocket and accidentally dialled someone.
"I don’t own that car. I wouldn’t tweet that picture."
Lescott grew up supporting Villa but he lasted just one season at the club in a catastrophic campaign which saw him play 31 games.
Villa recorded just three wins in his 31 appearances, and managed just a hat-trick of victories in their 38 Premier League games last season before being relegated to the Championship.
