IT'S the day Sky Sports News reporters have been dreading all year, but there will be no repeat of any of them being poked in the ear by a purple sex today.

They will be allowed to broadcast their reports from the safety of inside club's stadiums and training grounds.

Joyous fans had leaped behind reporters to celebrate deadline day moves by their clubs, but the reporters don't have to deal with the outside broadcasts this year if it's all kicking off.

Unfortunately that means there will be no repeat of the purple sex toy incident of 2014, when Alan Irwin was poked in the ear by one outside Everton's training ground.

Sky said after the incident at Everton 2014: “We apologise to those whose enjoyment was spoiled by a small number of incidents and we’re looking into ways to avoid this happening again in the future whilst ensuring fans remain a key part our live coverage.”

On the same Deadline Day another reporter was attacked with an inflatable sex doll.

This year, as has been the case in recent windows, it will be a much tamer affair on Sky Sports News.

Reporters will stand inside club grounds - whether that's at the training ground or the stadium.
