Manchester United transfer news: Jose Mourinho fuming as Bastian Schweinsteiger rejects Sporting Lisbon move to stay at Old Trafford
BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER has rejected a move to Sporting Lisbon to stay at Manchester United, leaving Jose Mourinho fuming.
The German World Cup winner, 32, has dug his heels in at Old Trafford, with United struggling to offload the veteran midfielder before the window closes tonight.
Mourinho has made it clear Schweinsteiger has no future at the club and is training with the reserves - but he is making life difficult by refusing to leave and rejecting an offer from Portuguese giants Sporting where he could have had first team football.
According to the , he has informed United bosses that he intends to stay at Old Trafford until January at least - regardless of the lack of games.
United were reportedly happy to heavily subsidise the German's Sporting salary as well as let him go for free.

Schweinsteiger was signed from Bayern Munich for £6.5million in the 2015 transfer window by then-United manager Louis van Gaal having started only 82 Bundesliga matches in the four preceding seasons.
And predictably after just making 13 starts in the Premier League, he became injured - with his attitude around the club having provoked anger amongst United's senior players.
He is happy to stay collecting a wage at Old Trafford until a move outside Europe materialises, for personal and financial reasons - with Major League Soccer and the Chinese Super League most likely.
Earlier this week, he said: "My wish would be to continue playing for Manchester United. I have no personal problems with Jose Mourinho.
"One thing is for sure: I'm not going to stop playing football. I still believe in my own ability. I could still help Man United if given the chance."
