And some Blues fans were left wondering whether the club are about to sign the former Chelsea defender after a rather odd tweet.

In posting a video of Ricardo Carvalho scoring past Manchester United in 2006 on Twitter, the Blues added the caption 'Chelsea's Portugeezers'.

The term 'geezer' is synonymous among Chelsea fans with Luiz after he screamed it in celebration at their 2012 Champions League victory.

Luiz often referred to Chelsea supporters as his 'geezers' as well, signing off his spell with the club in 2014 with an emotional Instagram message in which he thanked the fans.

With the Blues short of a centre back, don't be surprised to surprised to see Luiz back at Stamford Bridge once all is said and done in the transfer window.
