Newcastle ‘want Odion Ighalo in shock January transfer and ex-Man Utd striker is open to making Premier League return’
NEWCASTLE are interested in signing former Manchester United star Odion Ighalo, according to reports.
The striker, 32, currently plays for Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab and is the top scorer in the league this season with nine goals.
He moved to the Middle East after his loan spell at United, from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, came to an end earlier this year.
He scored five goals in 23 games for the Red Devils.
And he would be open to a move to St. James' Park, report .
Al Shabab have reportedly spoken to Ighalo about a potential move with Eddie Howe's 19th-placed side in desperate need of new signings.
The January transfer window is fast approaching and Newcastle continue to be linked with a host of names.
The latest is Tottenham defender Joe Rodon who could be allowed to leave on loan.

Lille centre-back Sven Botman is also rumoured to be a top target, with the Magpies also keen to sign a right-back, potentially Kieran Trippier.
United could rival Newcastle for Trippier, however, with both clubs also targeting Barcelona ace Moussa Dembele.
And his team-mate Philippe Coutinho is another player the Toon have their eye on as they look to avoid the drop.
Howe has just one win from seven so far but with Newcastle just six points off safety there is a chance to turn things around.
