Talks have stalled but boss Arsene Wenger hopes summer signings will convince midfielder of Gunners' title ambitions

ARSENAL believe signing Shkodran Mustafi will help convince Mesut Ozil to commit to a new deal, according to reports.

The Gunners schemer has just two years left on his current contract and boss Arsene Wenger is desperate him to extend.

But the German wants to see evidence of Arsenal’s title ambitions before he puts pen to paper.

The £35million deal for Mustafi was a statement of intent for Arsenal who spent over £90m in the last transfer window.

And Wenger hopes Ozil will be convinced that his international team-mate can help his underachieving side challenge for major honours.

According to the , the pair are good pals and Ozil could now be ready to re-open talks.
