JOSE MOURINHO has already helped himself to a trophy since taking over at Manchester United.

And the Portuguese tactician looks set to add to his collection after being favourite to land the Premier League Manager of the Month award for August.

Mourinho led his men to victory in the Community Shield final against Leicester before the domestic campaign kicked off.

And the former Chelsea manager has since overseen three wins from his first three matches, with the Red Devils beating Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City.

New signings including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly have been in fine form as United fired home six goals in total, conceding just one against Eddie Howe’s Cherries.

But Mourinho faces stiff competition from Blues boss Antonio Conte and Manchester City chief Pep Guardiola, who have also guided their teams to three league wins on the bounce.

Chelsea secured dramatic late wins against West Ham and Watford before cruising past Burnley 3-0.

Eden Hazard appears to have recaptured the form which was lacking last season, with the likes of Diego Costa, N’Golo Kante and Oscar also impressing.

Meanwhile, City join Chelsea and United at the top of the table after making light work of Sunderland, Stoke and West Ham.

New signings John Stones and Nolito have adapted well to Guardiola’s philosophy, with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane yet to feature.

But there is a shock name in the mix – Hull’s Mike Phelan.

The former United man is currently caretaker manager of the Tigers but has seen them record impressive wins over Swansea and champions Leicester.

Hull fans are now expecting to see Phelan put in charge on a permanent basis, and being named Manager of the Month would only further his cause.
