Mesut Ozil admits he's tempted by a move to the MLS

The German playmaker has less than two years remaining on his current contract, and Gunners fans are concerned he could be tempted to leave for a new challenge next summer.

Ozil is expected to sit down with Arsenal chiefs shortly to discuss the situation, and speculation is rife as to where his future may lie.

New signing Shkodran Mustafi revealed Ozil convinced him to leave Valencia for north London in late August, and Arsenal are hoping the centre-back repays the favour by getting his compatriot to pen a new deal.

Ozil also has his eyes on the No.10 shirt, which was vacated by Jack Wilshere following his deadline day loan move to Bournemouth.

And Arsene Wenger is sure to hand his star man the jersey if it means he will stay at the Emirates.

But Ozil appears to be keeping his options open for the time being, telling German publication that a move to America would in fact be right up his street.

Ozil said: “In football, you can never say never. You don’t know what will happen. I had a good time in Germany. That was a lot of fun.

“Eventually [the MLS] could be an option. I have fun everywhere. My fans know I like to spend my vacation in Los Angeles, because the city inspires me.”
