Granit Xhaka labelled ‘naive’ and ‘idiotic’ as Twitter reacts to Swiss midfielder’s red card against Portugal

GRANIT XHAKA'S red card for Switzerland in the World Cup qualifier against Portugal sparked a strong reaction on social media.
The Arsenal midfielder was labelled "naive" and "idiotic" by Swiss fans on Twitter.
However, Xhaka's misdemeanour didn't appear to play on his mind too much judging from this post on the player's Instagram account.
Switzerland held on for a superb 2-0 home win after Xhaka soured their evening by picking up two bookings.
A 70th minute caution was followed by a rash foul on former Manchester United winger Nani in stoppage time which saw the summer signing lunge in with two feet.

Nani wasn't injured but the nature of the challenge was enough to win Xhaka a second caution.
The fiery 23-year-old is fast developing a reputation for ill-discipline.
He was sent off three times, more than any other player in the Bundesliga last term, while playing for Borussia Monchengladbach.
And on his Arsenal debut against Liverpool last month, Xhaka won none of his six tackles and committed four fouls – the highest number of any Premier League player on the opening weekend of this season...despite being on the field for only 24 minutes.
